Artist Statement
My love of performance lives at the meeting point of music and storytelling. I am drawn not only to the sound of a role, but to the character beneath it—the choices, relationships, movement, and dramatic details that allow a performance to feel fully alive.
I value the collaborative nature of opera and theatre. From the first rehearsal through the final curtain call, I treasure the process of building something larger than any one performer. Whether I am developing a character, learning new repertoire, or contributing to the practical work of a production, I bring curiosity, energy, and care to the room.
I am especially excited by opportunities to explore both established repertoire and new works. The chance to help shape a role from the beginning—to discover how a new character speaks, moves, and sings—is one of the reasons I find live performance so compelling.
Biography
Sabrina Cohn, Soprano
Sabrina Cohn is a Boston-based soprano whose performance work spans opera, musical theatre, choral repertoire, and new music. She approaches each role with a strong interest in character, dramatic collaboration, and the relationship between music and storytelling.
In 2026, Cohn performed the role of Mae in the world premiere of Quiet as Mice, presented at Pickman Hall at the Longy School of Music. Her 2026 operatic work also includes Turnspit in Dvořák's Rusalka.
Her 2026 stage work also includes the roles of Billie Jean King and Cleopatra in Well-Behaved Women at the Longy School of Music, reflecting a performance range that extends across opera, musical theatre, and contemporary stage repertoire.
Her recent operatic credits include First Blade in A Bayou Legend with Opera Vermont, Bastienne in Bastien und Bastienne, Butterfly's Wife in Solomon and Balkis, and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with FIO Mondo in Urbania, Italy.
Previous roles include Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Mercure in Orphée aux enfers, Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel, and Zweite Knabe in Die Zauberflöte. Her training and performance experience have included work with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, FIO Mondo, Berlin Opera Academy, Chicago Summer Opera, and other programs.
Cohn earned her Master of Music in Vocal Studies from the Longy School of Music of Bard College in 2026. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Arts from Landmark College, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2024.
Her honors include the President's Award, the Maria Forte Art Award, and the Best New DJ Award from Landmark College, as well as the Above and Beyond Award from FIO Mondo.
